Positive emotions - Why hope over fear
Dr. Barbara Fredrickson, Professor of Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, talks about her new book Positivity in this you tube video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ds_9Df6dK7c
Dr Fredrickson is respected in the world of appreciative inquiry, neuroscience and emotional intelligence. Watch the video and you'll see why! She highlights the importance of heartfelt emotions like love, joy, gratitude and hope and that these are achieved by being open, authentic, real, connected.
She introduces the 3:1 positivity ratio, reinforcing that negative emotion isn't 'bad', that we feel good if we manage our emotions and lifestyles to find 3 positive emotions to lift us for every 1 negative emotion that pulls us down.
