You'll know I'm a fan of Michael Bungay Stanier's work from previous postings on this blog. Here's his latest movie to accompany the launch of his new book Find Your Great Work.

My favourite is #4. If everyone's happy, then you're not doing great work. "Scepticism, disappointment and resistance are measures of success.!

Reflecting, Writing and Regulating Emotions

I like writing. I like writing things down on paper, preferably with a nice pencil. Things feel different after I've written them down, whether it's a to do list or a journal. This article in the Telegraph offers some explanation:

Putting pen to paper is said to help the brain "regulate emotion" and reduces feelings of anxiety, fear and sadness.

Researchers claim the act of writing about personal experiences has a cathartic effect because it inhibits parts of the brain linked to emotional turmoil, and increases activity in the region to do with self-control.
