Emotional Intelligence

My approach
Emotional Intelligence is your everyday ability and ‘know how’ to get along with others, to bring out the best in people and in yourself.

My approach starts with determining how skilful you already are at dealing with people and then enables you to get even better.

If you want to become more effective in your relationships with others, it is useful to know how your emotional intelligence is made up.

Click here to read more details on these 'Four' main areas

These four main areas are made up of 16 more specific areas.

These combine into a comprehensive and self-directed personal development plan. I can create this with you and suggest practical and creative ways of improving the areas you want to develop.

The difference between emotional intelligence and people intelligence is that through peopleintelligence I pay particular attention to your communication skills, styles and needs as well as your ability to put assertiveness into practice.

Applied Emotional Intelligence - An introductory self development programme

A new 2 day self development programme (May / June 2007) on Applied Emotional intelligence and the importance of attitude with Amanda Knight (co author of AppliedEI - the importance of attitudes in developing emotional intelligence) and Maureen Bowes (author of me + you =)

We all have emotional intelligence (EI) - we all think and feel - and how we think and feel impacts on how we behave and how we perform. Our thoughts and feelings form our attitudes.

Discover what your underlying attitudes are towards yourself, towards others and towards life.

And gain insights into what influences others too.

The Little Prince’s approach

“It is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.”
By Antoine de Saint Exupéry

The Multiple Intelligence approach
In 1983 Howard Gardner wrote about 7 different intelligences:

Linguistic – words and language
Logical-mathematical – logic and numbers
Musical – music, sound, rhythm
Body-kinesthetic – body movement control
Spatial-visual – images and space
Interpersonal – other people’s feelings
Intrapersonal – self awareness

Emotional intelligence is the same as Gardner’s Interpersonal and Intrapersonal intelligences.

The CAEI Approach
This is the model I use.
EI is the practice of thinking about feeling and feeling about thinking when deciding what to do.

Much more can be learned about this through our ezine.
